This Peach Cobbler recipe is wonderfully simple to prepare. You can use either fresh or canned peaches for a warm, comforting dessert that’s perfect year-round.
Peach Cobbler
With peach season approaching, I decided to make a classic Peach Cobbler for my family. If you enjoy easy, comforting fruit desserts, this cobbler is a great choice—just as satisfying as a favorite apple cobbler. The recipe works well with canned peaches when fresh ones aren’t available, and it shines with juicy, ripe fresh peaches when they are in season.

I used canned peaches for this version since fresh peaches were not yet in season. If using fresh peaches, peel and slice them before combining with the sugar and spices. A scoop of vanilla ice cream is a lovely accompaniment, but the cobbler is delicious on its own, served warm straight from the oven.

Ingredients to make Easy Peach Cobbler
- 2 cans (15 oz each) spiced peaches, drained, or 4–5 cups fresh sliced peaches
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
- 2 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

How to make Peach Cobbler
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place one stick of butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and set the dish in the oven long enough to fully melt the butter. Remove the dish from the oven and set aside.
2. If using canned peaches, drain them well. If using fresh peaches, peel and slice them. Place the peaches in a large mixing bowl.
3. Add 1/4 cup of the flour, the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the peaches. Stir until the peach slices are evenly coated.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually whisk in the milk until you have a smooth batter.

5. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the prepared baking dish. Do not stir. Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter.

6. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the batter has set. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This cobbler keeps well: store in the refrigerator for up to five days and reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
